Be Humble
I've been humbled.
I do enjoy a lovely round of game night with close friends and loved ones. It gives me the opportunity to utterly surprise everyone in the room as I toss aside sweet, calm, cool, collected Laura out the window. I never played sports in high school because I felt bad making others lose, I pushed that competitive side of me down for the greater good of humanity. Now, I'm grown, matured and straight up don't care if I beat someone mercilessly in a round of phase 10.
However, I have met my match. My boyfriend and I chose to stay in and enjoy a quiet evening of wine and mancala. I was feeling pretty confident after I finally figured out the first turn strategy but then, he cruuuuuuushed me, knocked me out in one round. For five minutes, with a single tear trickling down my cheek, I sat and watched as he got marble after marble clinking into his pocket. This man is good, real good. This week, I have been humbled. Until next time my friend.
In the words of the great Kendrick Lamar said, "Sit down bitch. Be humble."
